Iron Mountain- Janice E. Spade-Cretens, 84, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, March 6, 2022.

She was born August 11, 1937, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Asolph and Isabelle (Cahee) Smeltzer. She grew up in Florence and was a graduate of Florence High School, class of 1955. Janice was united in marriage to Vernon Spade, who preceded her in death in February 1996. She then married Richard Cretens, who preceded her in death in February 2006. Janice worked as a nurse's aide for Florence Villa for 17 years before becoming a Wal-Mart greeter from 2010 until retiring in 2016.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Spade, Florence, Wis., and Allen (Angela) Spade, Iron Mountain, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Jerri Applin; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Derek) Williamson, Joseph (Nicole) Spade, Anthony (Rayanna) Spade, Dylan (Brenna) Spade, Victoria Spade, Ashley Spade, Christopher Spade, and Tristin Spade; ten great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn Erickson, Abigail Williamson, Abraham Williamson, Destiny Spade, Olivia Johnson, Anthony Spade Jr., Layla Spade, Kaedyn Jackson, Harmony Grailer and Clay Weinfurter; one sister, Patti (Ralph) Burns; one sister-in-law, Rita Klingbiel; several nieces and nephews; and many who loved her.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Vernon and Richard, Janice was preceded in death by one son, Verlyn Spade, a granddaughter, Ashley Marie Spade, and four brothers, Delbert, Donald, Buddy, and Jim Klingbiel.
