Iron Mountain-James A. Patterson, age 51, of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, unexpectedly at his home.

He was born January 25, 1967, in Illinois, son of the late Richard and Jeanette (Tomassoni) Patterson. Jim was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1985 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. After high school he proudly served in the United States Army and upon his honorable discharge returned to Iron Mountain.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, feeding birds, gardening and working around the yard. He was a devoted Chicago Cubs and Detroit Lions fan.

Survivors include one son, Kyle Patterson, North Carolina; two brothers, Richard Patterson Jr., Iron Mountain and Michael (Geri) Patterson, Iron Mountain; three sisters, Marilyn (Brian) Shaw, Virginia, Ruth Phillips, Iron Mountain and Patti (Jim) Menza, Iron Mountain; two grandchildren, Ashton and Ember; and by many nieces and nephews.

Private family visitation and celebration of Jim's life will be held at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain. Rev. Paul Strom of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain, will officiate.
