Obituary

Niagara- James Morin of Niagara passed away at home, on the farm that he loved, on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, with his loving family by his side. He struggled with heart disease for over four decades, along with a more recent diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis. His kind and gentle heart came to rest on Tuesday morning. He was born on April 13, 1943, to Joseph and Jennie (West) Morin. He attended Niagara Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1962. He married his high-school sweetheart, the former Betty Lou Provencher, on October 16, 1965. Jim worked at LoDaL for over 20 years as a Welder, Fabricator, Research and Development Specialist, and Production Foreman. He was then self-employed in the automotive repair business. He took over the family farm in 1998 after the death of his brothers. Jim was a very talented mechanic and could fix just about anything. He loved a good challenge. He enjoyed repairing and restoring old farm tractors and spent many hours in his shop. He loved farm machinery and was especially fond of the "green variety." His machine shed was like a John Deere showroom where he kept his many tractors, washing and polishing them each spring before putting them to work in the fields. He and his sons built a family camp where they spent many weekends there each fall. Hunting season was a much-anticipated family affair, adding a few in-laws to the mix. He was a loving and patient husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great pride in his sons, instilling in them the value of honesty and hard work. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty, four sons: Douglas, Scott, Steven, and Daniel, four special grandchildren: Amanda Herrscher, Scott Morin Jr., Ashley, and Brett Morin and two very precious great-grandsons: Brooks and Brady James Herrscher, a brother, Gerald and many nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed and loved forever. He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis, his parents and siblings: Maralyn, Irving, Glenn, and infant brother, Alan. The family would like to extend very special thanks to Dr. Mahadev for his many, many years of dedicated care, as well as Kristi Olson, Beth Schroeder and staff, and Dr. Fuchs of Green Bay Cardiology. Visitation will be Sunday, September 19, 2021, from noon until 3:00 p.m., at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain, Mich., followed by a short service. Pastor Jim Danielson will officiate. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the Red Brick Inn in Niagara beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. You may leave a condolence or tribute for Jim's family online at www.JacobsFuneralHomes.com The family has chosen the Jacobs Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Iron Mountain, Mich., to honor Jim's legacy of life.
