James "Mac" Mackie, 66, of Kingsford, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Dickinson County Hospital, Iron Mountain.
He was born on January 1, 1947, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to the late Arvid and Ruth (Rein) Mackie.
Mac grew up in Kingsford, graduating from Kingsford High School. After graduation, he moved to Milwaukee where he worked as an ironworker and later moved to Colorado and California working for Russett Electrical Contracting Company. Mac moved back to Kingsford in 1981 and was employed by Bastian Electric until he retired in 2012. He could always be found helping other people with their projects and enjoyed going to his camp. Mac will be missed by his numerous friends and family.
He is survived by one daughter, Krysta Rittenhouse-Bush, Kingsford; two special children, Tony and Levi Doda, Kingsford; two brothers, Richard (Barbara) Mackie, Bozeman, Mont., Roger (Sharon) Mackie, Oak Creek, Wis.; one sister, Janice (Bud) Opsahl, Iron Mountain; one granddaughter, Kalei Rittenhouse; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at graveside, 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013 at Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Michigan. Burial will take place immediately following the service.
Family will be receiving friends at Mayme's Bar, 114 East Brown Street, Iron Mountain, Friday, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
