Obituary

James J. King, age 63, of Florence, Wisconsin, passed away Sunday March 6, 2005, at Dickinson County Healthcare Systems in Iron Mountain. James was born on January 30, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Milton and Olivia (Merkt) King. James was raised in New Berlin, Wisconsin and attended Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha where he graduated. He later went on to attend Spencerian Business College in Wisconsin where he received his Business Degree. He married Susan Hoye on May 20, 1972, at St. Jude's Catholic Church in Wauwatosa, WI. They moved to Florence in August of 1990. While in Florence, James worked for Florence Trax and also for the Florence County Schools as head cook. He was a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Dickinson County Area Cursillo movement. He served on the Florence County Board for approximately ten years, currently serving as a board supervisor. James enjoyed many hobbies including playing cards, reading, studying History, and telling stories. He also was an avid cook and very active in the food service industry for many years, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family who he dearly loved. Survivors include his wife Susan, five daughters; Sister Mary Joseph of the Holy Face of the Carmelite Monastery in Denmark, WI, Elizabeth (Bill) Honeycutt of Florence, WI, Colleen King of Florence, WI, Kathleen King of Lanse, Michigan, and Bridget King of Florence, WI, one brother Milton (Mary Kay) King of Dodgeville, WI, one sister Dorothy Anderson of Milwaukee, WI., two sisters –in-law Josephine (Frank-Friend) King of Greenfield, WI. and Mary (Mac) McDougall of Milwaukee, WI., one brother –in-law Tom (Letitia) Hoye of Wauwatosa, WI., many nieces and nephews including Barb (Ken) Eufinger, Betty (Stan) Quinn, Nels (Megan) Anderson, Catherine King, Edward (Kristen) King, William King, Sarah (Marty) Schimke, Jonathan King, Timothy (Tuyen Nguyen) Hoye, John (Tanisia) Hoye, Sarah Hoye, Anne Hoye, Melissa (John)Williams, Kelly McDougall, and many cousins including Janet Ramstack of Florence, and one great nephew Connor Williams. Besides his parents James was preceded by one brother Donald King. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2005, from 4-8p.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home of Florence. Prayers will be offered Tuesday 7:30p.m. by Sister Marla Clercx at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday with a prayer at 10:30 at the Jacobs- Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence. With the Mass of Christian burial to follow at ll: 00 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Florence. Fr. Michael Betley, Fr. Michael Merkt, Fr. Dan Zaloga and Fr. Leo Lessard will concelebrate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Commonwealth, Wisconsin.
