Crystal Falls- James J. Kempa, 64, of Crystal Falls, Mich., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2020. Jim was a loving and devoted father and grandfather and will be truly missed. He was a retired mill worker of 30 years from Inland Steel in East Chicago. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and riding his side by side with his chocolate lab, Butch. Survivors include his loving children, Crystal and Leonard Lawrence, Lowell, Indiana, Nichole and Luke Bruzan, Eddyville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Bailey Hazi, Princeton, Kentucky and Paisley and Finley Lawrence, both of Lowell, Indiana; and by his brother, Gerald Kempa, Crystal Falls Mich. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Elaine Kempa. Private graveside services will take place at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, Mich.
