Obituary

Jacqueline M. Cook, 80, of Crystal Falls, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born April 9, 1927, in Crystal Falls daughter of the late Emil and Bernice Gurske. On January 29, 1949, she married Thomas G. Cook, Jr in Kenosha, Wis. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1999. Jacqueline's mother died when she was eight. She lived with her aunt, Margrett Thompson, until she graduated from St. Mary's Academy High School, Milwaukee. She then graduated from the RN Cadet Nursing program at St. Therese Hospital, Waukegan, Illinois. She was a Registered Nurse in the Waukegan area until 1977 when she returned to her beloved U.P. Tom and Jackie raised cattle on their hobby farm. She was an active member of the Iron County Weavers Guild and Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. After her husband's death she volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul. Survivors include, two daughters, Priscilla (Dallas) Wiesner, Pleasant Prairie, Wis., Laurie (Jack) Kroll, Honolulu, Hawaii; two sons, Brian (Cheri Nelson) Cook, Iron Mountain, Todd Cook, Waukegan, Ill.; five grandchildren, Matt, Gavin, Ginger, Rodger, Lindsay, and one great-grandchild, Ava Rose. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Thomas Cook, and one grandson Tom Kroll. Visitation will be Thursday, July 26, 2007, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls and Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. There will be a parish wake service at 6:45 PM, Thursday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM, Friday, July 27, 2007, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
