Jack C. Vassar, age 64, of Florence, Wis., passed away Thursday, December 14, 2006, at Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence.
He was born January 5, 1942, in Florence, son of the late Volney and Lillian (Nelson) Vassar. Jack lived in Beloit, Wis. and worked for Consolidated Filling Station. In 1974, he returned to Florence where he worked as a caretaker for both Woodlawn and Commonwealth Cemeteries. After working at the cemeteries he worked with Ed Leffler cutting pulp. Jack's hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Survivors include one brother Volney Vassar, Florence, Wis.; four sisters Shirley (Russell) Peterson, Appleton, Wis., Lois Ducharme, Mena, Ark., Valeria Fraumeni, Iron Mountain, Mich., Linda (Morris) Erickson, Alton, N.H.; one half-brother, Reynolds Makela, Iron River, Mich.; one granddaughter, Tasha Marie Vassar, Beloit, Wis.; two special nephews, Volney Ponchaud, Scott Vassar; and many other special nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by one brother, Terry Vassar; three sisters, Edna Woods, Nell Hogan, Marion Anderson; and one daughter, Brenda Vercher.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 19, 2006, from 10:30 am to 11:30am at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home in Florence. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:30 am at the funeral home. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial be at Woodlawn Cemetery in the spring.
