Jack T. Stewart, 73, of Florence passed away, Tuesday, December 24, 2013, at the Oscar G. Johnson Veteran's Hospital, Iron Mountain after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born April 1, 1940, in Cadillac, Mich., son of the late Leon and Dorothy (Soles) Stewart.
Jack graduated from Reed City High School, Reed City, Mich. and served our country in the U.S. Navy. Jack married Doris Weinert on June 5, 1981, in Iron Mountain, Mich. While living in Iron Mountain they resided on the north side. Jack worked for Khoury Brothers Furniture, Michigan Wisconsin Spring Shop and Grede Foundry for 8 years before retiring. They moved to Florence in 1989. In Jack's spare time he could be found prospecting for gold, he loved nature, canning and especially spending time with his kitty, Lucky.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Doris; two brothers, Patrick Stewart, Iron Mountain and Robert Stewart, lower Michigan; three sisters, Ann (Larry) Messenger, Paris, Mich., June (Larry) Nelson, Grand Rapids, Mich., Kathleen (Robert) Ward, Hersey, Mich.; one brother-in-law, Roger Weinert, Norway, Mich. and many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Jack's wishes private family services will be held.
