Iron Mountain:
Inez Freeman, 100, was called home by her Lord Thursday, December 15, 2005, at Freeman Nursing Center in Kingsford, Michigan.
A life-long resident of Iron Mountain, she was born February 19, 1905 to the late David and Hilda (Forell) Olson. On July 9, 1927, she married Helmer Freeman at the Swedish Methodist Church, a match seemingly preordained by a history of crossed paths starting with both being delivered by the same mid-wife. Though he preceded her in death on April 4,1973, Inez comforted herself with a faith she and her husband shared, memories of their years camping in nearly every U.S. state, and the caring love of their son, David.
Music having played an important part in Inez's life, she used her talents at organ and piano to accompany church services and the choir in which her husband sang. A dedicated, active supporter of her church, Trinity United Methodist, her affiliations ranged from the Mr. and Mrs. Clubs in her early years to the Westside Workshop in her latter years. It was rare to find Inez without her earrings or with posture less than perfect, yet she was equally at ease riding out to the Osterburg camp with her cousins in the open bed of a pick-up truck. Though she worked a number of years as secretary to the president of U. S. National Bank of Iron Mountain, her true career was as mother and wife. In spite of 100 years of life to look back on, this lady who saw the first cars come to Iron Mountain always looked forward and celebrated each day as it came.
She leaves behind one daughter-in-law Kay Freeman, Marquette; two grandchildren Paula (Jim) White, Marquette, Sue (John) Seibel, Clarendon Hills, Illinois; three great-grandchildren Jesseca Bert, Katie Seibel, Allison Seibel; special niece Barbara (John) Raffin, Iron Mountain and God-daughter Sandra (Gary) Bonetti, Hardwood, special nephew Don (Faye) Cesario, Green Bay, Wisconsin; and many other loved relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Jeanette Cesario, and infant brother, and her son David Freeman.
Visitation will be Monday, December 19. 2005, 1:00 – 3:00p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Iron Mountain. Funeral services will follow at 3:00p.m. at the church. Rev. Meredith Rupe will officiate. Friends and family are invited to a fellowship lunch served at church following the services. Burial will be Tuesday, December 20th at 1:00pm in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain.
