Impi Irene Matson, age 85, of Crystal Falls, died Sunday, October 30, 2005 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.
She was born March 20, 1920 in Crystal Falls daughter of the late Matt and Matilda (Kankaanpaa) Kettula. On December 14, 1936 she married Jalmar Matson in Crystal Falls. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1947.
Impi attended Swan Lake School and Crystal Falls School. She worked for the Iron County Medical Care Facility for 21 years until retiring. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, photography and country music.
Survivors include one son Raymond Matson, Crystal Falls; three grandchildren, Kim (John) Mastie, Crystal Falls, Ginger (James) Wilson, Crystal Falls, Kurt (Katherine) Matson, Farmington; three great-grandchildren, Brandi Wilson, Dana Matson, Michele Matson; and one brother, Arvo Kettula, Manistique. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jalmar Matson; three sisters, Martha Matson, Aili Heikkinen, Bertha Davis and one brother Martin Kettula.
Visitation will be Wednesday November 2, 2005, from 4 - 8p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 3, 2005 at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
