Florence-Homer W. Dunkes, age 87, of Norway, Mich., passed away Friday, July 12, 2019, at the Oscar G Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich.
He was born October 6, 1931, in Loch Raven, Maryland, son of the late Albert M. and Dora E. (Wilson) Dunkes. Homer grew up in Maryland and proudly served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Mary Davis on November 19, 1986. Homer worked in the pattern molding department at Grede Foundry and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Norway, Mich.
Homer enjoyed hunting, gardening, and especially the time spent with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Dunkes, Florence; two sons, Jason (Lynn) Dunkes, Niagara, Wis., and Ray Davis, Iron Mountain, Mich.; two daughters, Beverly (Randy) Butterfield, Iron Mountain, Mich., and Nina Jacobs, Niagara, Wis.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, David Dunkes, Newberry, Flor.; one sister, Adelma Ashe, Townson, Maryland; as well as numerous members of the DeClark family and Davis family.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by two sons, David and Homer "Guy".
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home & Crematory, Florence, Wis. A memorial service will take place Tuesday, at 12:00 noon, at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Florence, Wis. The VFW Post #3635, Florence, will accord military honors at graveside.
