Obituary

Iron Mountain: Helen Wagner age 80, of Niagara, Wisconsin, died Thursday, October 2, 2003, at Maryhill Manor of Niagara, Wisconsin. Helen was born April 7, 1923, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Michael and Sadie (Elias) Abraham. After graduation from Iron Mountain School, she attended business school and worked in New York City for several years before returning to Iron Mountain. Helen married David Wagner on August 16, 1947, in Niagara, and they enjoyed 46 years together before he died in 1993. She was a member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church. She managed Kay's Kitchen restaurant with her sister Catherine for many years and was a volunteer at the Niagara Senior center. She is survived by two sons, David (Kathryn) and Richard, both of Niagara; a daughter, Jody (David) Valk of Eau Claire, WI; a brother, Richard (Jean) Abraham of Breitung Township; two sisters, Margaret Bandt of Iron Mountain, and Virginia Gossan of Lower Michigan; and five grandchildren, Sara Wagner, Chandra Wagner, Richard Gardiner, Nicole Valk and Ryan Valk. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas; a sister, Catherine; and four brothers, Sam, John, Edward, and George. Visitation will be Saturday, October 4, 2003, from 9 – 11a.m. at St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00a.m. at St. Mary's Orthodox Church. Fr. Mark Hagen will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
