Helen F. Mayo, 90, Iron Mountain, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2008, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford.
She was born July 6, 1918, in Alpha, Mich., daughter of the late James and Bertha (Whaley) Fincannon. She graduated from Alpha High School in 1936. Helen was the last living graduate of the 1936 class.
In 1937, Helen married the late Raymond Johnson in Crystal Falls. They raised their four children in Crystal Falls. In 1968, Helen moved to Milwaukee, Wis. where she met and married William Mayo. He preceded her in death in 1983.
Helen moved to Iron Mountain in 1986 where she lived at Bob's Trailer Court and Hulst Manor for many years before moving to ManorCare. She worked various jobs while living in Miwaukee and was a bookkeeper for Grailer Trucking when she moved back to the area. She loved her family, gardening, reading, and crocheting.
She is survived by two daughters, Elsie (Don) Crucianelli, Kenosha, Wis., Susan Grailer, Kingsford; one son, Henry Johnson, West Allis, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by one son, Arthur Johnson, 1972; a son-in-law, Jerry "Dimps" Grailer, Sr., 2005; three sisters; and five brothers.

Visitation will be Monday, October 6, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec, Mich.
