Helen F. Leonard, age 96, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Maryhill Manor, Niagara, Wis. She was born May 25, 1910, in Iron Mountain, Mich. She was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Laurina (Corsi) Spera. She married Clayton J. Leonard June 7, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1995. Helen attended Business College in Iron Mountain. After her children were born, she decided to become a stay-at-home Mom. Helen spent every summer at their cottage at Hamilton Lakes. She was a wonderful Italian cook, but would not part with any of her recipes. She is survived by three sons, James C. (Patricia) Leonard, Madison, Wis., Gary (Joanne) Leonard, Wausau, Wis., Dennis (Marian) Leonard, Pagosa Springs, Colo. ; nine grandchildren, Lori (Scott) DeMario, Lisa (Roger) Yunker, Christine (Michael) Cleary, Karen Leonard, Stephanie (Dustin) Hackbart, Debbie (Brian) Knapp, Pam Leonard, Tracey (Darren) Moran, Kelly (Daniel) O'Neil; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Ali, and Lexi DeMario, Alisha, Stephanie, Michael, Chrissy, and Tyler Cleary, Barrett, Campbell and Emerson Hackbart, Derek and Tyler Knapp, Rachel and Jackson Moran, and Grace O'Neil; one brother, Alfred (Dorothy) Spera; two sisters, Mary (Archie) Larson, Flora (Charles) DeRidder; many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, and husband, Clayton, Helen was preceded in death by her three sisters, Dora Pietrantonio, Ida DeBernardi, and Alice Engibous. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 25, 2007, from l:30 to 3:00 PM. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. Prayers will be offered Monday, February 26, 9:30 AM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will follow at l0:00 AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Niagara. Father Michael Betley will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
