Iron Mountain: Harold W. Schroeder age 90. of Florence, Wisconsin died Friday August 29, 2003 at the Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence, Wisconsin. Harold was born on March 14, 1913 in Mattoon, Wisconsin son of the late William F. and Matie (Knight) Schroeder. Harold attended school as a child in Mattoon, Wisconsin and later attended high school in Antigo, Wisconsin graduating in 1930. He married Elvie Olson on July 6, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois. She preceded him in death on October 29, 1994. They resided in Antigo, Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Slinger, Wisconsin before moving to Florence in 1987. Harold worked as a logger in his early years. During WWII he went to work in a shoe factory were they needed his expertise. After he left the shoe factory Harold went to work for WITCO as a forklift mechanic. He worked for WITCO for 26yrs retiring in 1978. Harold was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Kingsford. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all working on anything mechanical. Harold helped many people in the neighborhood with there engines that were broke. Harold is survived by: Three sons, Jerry Schroeder of West Bend, WI., Orin (Bonnie) Schroeder of Milwaukee, WI., and William (Mary) Schroeder of Adell, WI., 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded by, one son Jeff in 1967. Four brothers, Art, Russell, Donald and Leon. One sister Dorothy Schwingle. Visitation is Tuesday September 2, 2003 from 1-2PM at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Funeral services will be Tuesday 2PM at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. Elder Steve Kindness, of Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Kingsford will officiate.
