Harold R. "Skip" Maddox, Jr., 67, of Trout Creek, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, in Crystal Falls, Mich.
He was born July 18, 1946, in Elwood, Indiana son of Harold and Anna (Hendrix) Maddox, Sr. Harold grew up and graduated from Alexandria High School in Alexandria, Ind. Skip served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War and served two tours of duty. He married Carletta Soneff on September 5, 1969, at Wesleyan Methodist Church in Summitville, Ind. After being married they resided in Alexandria. Skip worked for RCA Corporation in Marion, Ind. They later moved to Anderson, Ind. where Skip worked for the Anderson Community Schools, as head custodian, retiring in 1996. In 1997, he along with his wife moved to Trout Creek. While living in Trout Creek, Skip enjoyed raising pigs and cutting fire wood.
Skip was a past member of Wesleyan Methodist Church, the VFW of Alexandria, and The American Legion of Anderson, the 40-8 of Madison County and the Vietnam Veterans of American, Madison County.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 44 years, Carletta; his mother, Anna Maddox, VanBuren, Ind.; two sons, Steven Maddox, Trout Creek and Sgt. Daniel Maddox and wife Leslie, Green Bay, Wis.; one daughter, Reana Maddox, Anderson; one brother, Michael Maddox, Anderson; four grandchildren, Ryder, Justice, Caleb and Luke and many nieces and nephews.
Skip was preceded in death by his father, Harold, Sr. and one brother, Stephen Maddox.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 8, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor 1st Sgt. Alvin DuPree will officiate. Military Honors will be accorded at the funeral home.
