Harold Foucault, Sr., 91, of Crystal Falls, passed away suddenly, Thursday, October 31, 2013.
He was born May 2, 1922, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Albert and Mary (Mattson) Foucault. Harold attended the Crystal Falls schools. He married the former Ellen Lahti on February 11, 1944. She preceded him in death on April 6, 2008.
Harold worked in the CCC camps. He served in the United States Coast Guard, serving during World War II. Harold was employed in the area mines for 38 years, retiring from Groveland Mine in 1981. Upon retirement, he and Ellen enjoyed traveling extensively.
He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls, and the American Legion Post No. 87 of Crystal Falls. Harold was an excellent hunter, trapper, and fisherman and loved the outdoors and spending time at his camp on Deer Lake.
Harold is survived by his daughter, Debbie (James) Zaupa, Crystal Falls; one brother, Donald Foucault, Crystal Falls; two grandchildren, Shaun (Nicole), Jesse Zaupa; four great-grandchildren, Claire, Bree, Ellie, and Baby Joe. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and loving wife, Ellen, Harold was preceded in death by one son, Larry Foucault; one sister, Violet Johnson; and one granddaughter, Jody.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. The East Side Veteran's Council will conduct a Pass-In-Review 10:45 a.m. at the church. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday at the church. Rev. Micheal Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Zaupa, Jesse Zaupa, John Foucault, Roy Foucault, Al Johnson, and Ken Johnson.
