Harold D. Fillis, age 95, of Crystal Falls, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born January 2, 1911 in Wilson, son of the late William M. and Hilda (Essler) Fillis. On October 17, 1931 he married Evelyn M. Hammersmith. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2004. Harold was a cheese maker for the Frigo Cheese Corporation. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include three daughters, Doris (William) Stacy, Lois (William) Gillespie, both of Crystal Falls, Sandra (Eugene) Pellizzaro, Stambaugh; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn Fillis, one grandson Michael Pellizzaro and one great grandson, Ryan Brown. Visitation will be Sunday, February 5, 2006 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, 2006 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Rev. Ray Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
