Gloria C. Schmidt, 75, of Crystal Falls, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. She was born April 6, 1934, in Spalding, daughter of the late Fred and Dora (St. John) Paquette. On January 29, 1955, Gloria married Robert Schmidt in Kingsford. Gloria and Robert moved to Crystal Falls in 1955. Gloria was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls, where she served as Eucharistic Minister, coordinator of the CCD program for seven years, and taught CCD for 27 years. She was also a member of the church choir, the serving club, grieving club, was the leader of Community of Praise prayer group, and was a member of the Northwoods Writers Club for six years. She enjoyed berry picking, gardening, writing, and helping others. Survivors include, her husband, Robert Schmidt, Crystal Falls; one son, Gary (Kelly) Schmidt, Caspian; one granddaughter, Krissy (Jim) Pulchak, Twin Lakes; two step-grandchildren, Keith Hooper, Craig Hooper; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lexis, Bradley, Sierra; and two brothers, Bob Paquette, Kingsford, and Jim Paquette, Iron Mountain. She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Schmidt in 1972, Jack Schmidt in 1998; and one grandson, Brian Schmidt. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Crystal Falls. Rev. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls. Pallbearers include Ernest, Ernie, George, Larry, Gary Schmidt, and Craig Hooper.
