Gloria Person, 84, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Iron Mountain, Mich., passed away on Sunday, January 9, 2011, in Phoenix.
She was born on July 9, 1926, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Angelo and Erma (Valenti) Selmo. Gloria graduated from Iron Mountain High School, Class of 1944. On September 13, 1947, she married Robert (Chet) Person at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain.
Gloria was a long-time member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Choir and the Paisano Club. She was active in Campfire Girls of America where she served as troop leader, camp counselor, past-President, and board member. Gloria was noted for her Italian cooking and mouth-watering baked goods. She and Chet enjoyed travelling in their motorhome during their retirement years, but she was happiest when spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Chet Person; daughters, Cathy (Randy)Turcotte, Tempe, Ariz.; Joann Person, Chandler, Ariz.; granddaughter, Nicole Turcotte, Mt. Dora, Fla.; and several cousins.
Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. Prayers will be offered 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1:00 p.m., Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Iron Mountain. Rev. Raymond Valerio will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain.
