Glen R. Miller, 88, of Florence passed away Monday, December 9, 2013, at Maryhill Manor Nursing Home, Niagara, Wis. He was born on July 9, 1925, in Goodman, Wis., son of the late William and Alma (Johnson) Miller. Glen was raised in Wabeno, Wis., and attended Windfall Elementary School in the town of Freedom and Wabeno High School. He went to Chicago, Ill., at the age of 16 to work and help support his family. Glen proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a machinist for 35 years at Union Specialty located in Chicago. He spent his retirement in Florence, Wis. Many happy times were spent golfing at Green Acres, and bowling at Recreation Lanes on the Wednesday and Friday senior leagues. Glen was an overall sports fan, being able to recite stats of players past and present and he enthusiastically followed the Packers, Badgers and Cubs. He was a great lover of all animals, especially dogs. Glen was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Florence. He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving and faithful companion of the last 19 years, Audrey Mueller; his daughters Kathy, Vicky, Susan and his step-daughter Linda; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his lifetime friend Lewis Mallow, Jr. and special friends Mouse and Pat Mueller, JoAnn Hathaway, David Vross and Sparky. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. The American Legion Cretton-Tutas Post No. 136 of Niagara will offer a Veteran's Military Service, 10:45 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, 11:00 at the Jacobs Funeral Home, Niagara Chapel. Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wabeno, Wis.
