Obituary

Iron Mountain: Giorgia E. Burlo, age 70, a long-time resident of the Iron Mountain area was taken to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday March 28, 2004, passing away peacefully at manor Care Nursing Home in Kingsford. She was born on August 20, 1933, in Trento, Italy, the daughter of the late Enea and Felina (Gobbie) Gozzotti, Vicenza, Italy. Giorgia was proud of her Italian heritage, and was much honored to become a US citizen in Fort Worth, Texas on August 7, 1967. Giorgia fought a courageous battle against Alzheimer's for 14 years and was cared for at home daily by her devoted husband, Tom. A deeply loving mother, she enjoyed her children and their families. She was especially proud of their individual accomplishments and each held a special place in her heart. Giorgia loved people, loved to socialize and knew how to pray. She also enjoyed baking and dancing. Her home and yard was a delight for all to see with extraordinary blooms from spring through fall. She married Thomas Burlo of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on April 25, 1959 in Vicenza, Italy while he was stationed with the U-S Army (Setaf) they went on to make the military career for 22 years. Giorgia was a member of Saint Mary's Queen of Peace church of Kingsford. She was an active participant in all parish activities. She leaves her husband Tom, two daughters, Jennifer of Cedarburg, WI., Jacqueline (Raymond) Rangel of Shorewood, IL. One son Jeffrey A. of Milwaukee, WI., Two grandchildren, Miranda and Marcus Rangel of Shorewood, IL. Two nephews, Arrigo and SAndro Semenghine of Vicenza, Italy. One sister-in-law Margaret (Pat) Lake of Sturgeon Bay, WI., Three brother-in-laws, Louis Burlo, Wallace (Evelyn) Burlo of Sturgeon, Bay, WI., and Charles (Marylin) Burlo of Shawano, WI., and numerous nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ada and two nephews, Carlo and Stefano. Visitation will be Wednesday March 31, 2004 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 12 a.m. at St. Mary's Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford. Fr. Michael Woempner and Fr. Paul Nomellini will concelebrate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. He nephews will serve as pallbearers. Daniel Burlo, Louie Burlo Jr., William Sampone, Gregg Lake, Charles Olson and pat Rankin.
