Niagara:
Gilda M. Hohol, age 93, of Niagara, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at Maryhill Manor in Niagara.
She was born May 23, 1910, in Iron Mountain, to the late Nunzio and Joanne (Diagustine) Calvesio. She grew up in Iron Mountain and attended school there.
On June 18, 1934, Gilda married Edward Hohol, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on August 3, 2000. She was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church of Niagara and a member of St. Anthony's Council of Catholic Women. Gilda enjoyed many hobbies including cooking, crossword puzzles, gardening and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Gilda is survived by one son Anthony (Barbara) Hohol of Dalton, Georgia, one sister Viola Hirvo of Florida, ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband Edward, Gilda was preceded in death by two daughters, Marilyn Bengel, and Annette Fayas, three sisters, one brother and a grandson Carl Bengel.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 17. 2004, from 9:30 to 11a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Niagara. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00a.m. at the Church. St. Anthony's Council of Catholic Women will offer a Memorial Service at the church.. Fr. Michael Betley will officiate. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery.
