Gertrude Sigrid Langrill, age 98, of Crystal Falls died Saturday, January 7, 2006 at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.
Gertrude was born January 5, 1908 in National Mine, daughter of the late Joel and Anna (Korkela) Anderson. On January 17, 1936 in Detroit she married George Langrill. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1979.
Her family moved to Crystal Falls in 1909 from National Mine and she attended Crystal Falls schools. She moved to Chicago and Detroit and in 1936 was married to George and moved back to Crystal Falls where she worked for Ostrand's Grocery and did secretarial and bookkeeping work. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with her card clubs. Gertrude was a member of the United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls.
Survivors include two sisters, Vienna Gallmore and Pauline Martin, both of Crystal Falls; three sisters-in-law, Alverna, Theresa and Ruth Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Langrill; four sisters, Silvia Anderson, Elizabeth Laine, Lillian Willits, Hilma Handell; and five brothers, Reino, Arne, Joe, Bill, and Paul Anderson.
Visitation will be from 12: Noon until 1:00 p.m.,Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at United Lutheran Church, Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at the church. Rev. Michael Laakko will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
