Obituary

Gertrude H. Bray, 92, of Quinnesec, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012, at her daughter's home in Crystal Lake, Ill. She was born March 13, 1920, in Nadeau, Mich., daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Charles) Paquette. Gertrude married Albert J. Bray in May of 1937. He preceded her in death in July of 2004. Gertrude resided in Kingsford until 1956, at which time she moved to Chicago where she worked for Stewart Warner for many years and received a life-time gold pass for her achievements. In 1978, she moved to Quinnesec where she has been since. She was a member of American Martyrs Catholic Church, Kingsford. Gertrude enjoyed spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gertrude is survived by one son, Gerald "Mickey" (Marian) Bray, Naples, Fla.; two daughters, Sharon (Stanton) Serwitz, Patricia (Robert) Heinke, both of Crystal Lake, Ill.; one brother, Clayton (Mary) Poquette, Neenah, Wis.; one sister, Anna Polzwski, Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Steven Bray, Thomas Bray, Cindy Wendlandt, Robert Heinke, Perry Serwitz, Tammy Belizzi, Lisa Skwarek, Daniel Serwitz; and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Mary Poquette, Rita Mercier, Joyce Rochon, Dorothy Perket, Viola Bray, Margie Pollock; four brothers, Elmer Poquette, Raymond Poquette, Harvey Poquette, and Edsel Poquette. The visitation will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Rev. Joseph Gouin will officiate. Burial will be in Breitung Township Cemetery, Quinnesec.
