Gerald "Jerry" White, 64, of Florence, Wis. passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his home. Jerry was born February 27, 1945, in Iron Mountain, Mich., son of the late George and Lillian (De Rosier) White. He grew up in Florence and graduated from Florence High School. Jerry served in the US Army from 1963 to 1966. He married the former Janell Korstad on September 4, 1965, in Florence. They lived in Chicago, IL and Rhinelander, Wis. for a short time, before moving back to Florence in 1970. While living in Florence, Jerry worked for the Wisconsin Farmer's Union as Neighborhood Youth Corp as field representative. He also worked for Florence County OST (Opportunity Skills and Training), and Michigan Works as the Certified Workforce Development Professional. Jerry loved hunting, spending time outdoors, and the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Janell; two daughters, Carmen (Travis) Jones, Round Rock, Tex., Sherry Smith, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; a brother, Daryl "Butch" (Diane) White, Iron Mountain; two sisters, Jean( Bob) Johnson, Florence, Bonnie Witt, Colo.; five grandchildren, Tyler and Haley Smith, Kennedy, Vanessa and Isabelle Jones; numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded by a brother, Robert "Bob" White; and a sister in law, Jackie White.
