Florence- Gerald I. Manley, age 82, of Florence, Wis., passed away Friday, September 20, 2019, at his home.
He was born November 19, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Emily and George Manley. He grew up and attended school in Illinois. Gerald proudly served in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Jeanette R. Lipkeman, on June 24, 1961 in Chicago Ridge. They moved to Florence to be closer to their children 3 years ago.
Gerald worked as a salesman with Trainor Glass Company. He was a custodian and friend of the kids at Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Ill. Later he became a maintenance man at Three Rivers Public Library in Channahon, Ill.
He enjoyed woodworking, making cabinets and building small model ships, and he liked vacationing on farms. Most of all Gerald, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Manley, Florence, Wis.; three sons, Michael Manley, Florence, Wis., Bill (Kim) Manley, Florence, Wis. , and Dan (Sandy) Manley, Hawaii, along with their 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; one daughter, Pam (Raf) Alam, London, England, and their child Ty; one sister, Gwynette Hess; and by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his sister's, Grace (Jim) Laurencig, Gertrude Pieto, and Gloria (Stanley) Lech.
In accordance with Gerald's wishes, services will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill., in the spring.
