Obituary

Iron Mountain: Gerald A. Lefebvre, 78, peacefully passed away Saturday October 5th, 2002 at the Veterans Medical Center. Mr. Lefebvre was born in Florence Wisconsin in 1924 and moved to Kingsford in 1927. He graduated from Kingsford High School in 1942 and then proudly served in the United Sates Navy during WWII and the Korean conflict. His time in the Navy was spent on board the submarine USS Archerfish which sank the Japanese Aircraft Carrier Shinano. The Shinano is the largest ship ever sank by a submarine. In 1949 He Graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Mr. Lefebvre married Barabara Lefebvre (Hoag) in 1954 and had 5 children. In the following years he worked at the Groveland Mine and for Mineral Services of Cleveland Ohio and worked in several foreign countries. In his later years he worked as a carpenter in the local area. Mr. Lefebvre is survived by 5 children and 7 grandchildren, Denise Lefebvre of Naples, Florida, Patricia (Tom) Gryske and their children Michael (Kerry), Eric, David of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Scott (Jane) Lefebvre and their children Breanna and Kyle of Kingsford, Dean (Sandi) Lefebvre and their children Thomas and Jacob of Iron Mountain, and Dan Lefebvre of Kingsford. He is also survived by; 3 siblings, Beatrice (Merv) Blume of Rockford, Illinois, Patricia Lefebvre of Florence, Wisconsin, and Bruce (Clarise) Lefebvre of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday October 9th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain. A funeral service will be held Wedneday 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Celebrant Robert Fuse will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park in Iron Mountain. The Jacobs Funeral Home of Iron Mountain is serving the family.
