Iron Mountain- George "Trapper" Chartier, 76, of Niagara, Wisc., passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center, Iron Mountain, Mich.
Trapper was born on April 10, 1947, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to the late Gene and Mabel (Freeman) Chartier.
He grew up in Niagara, Wisc., and graduated from Niagara High School, class of 1965. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After honorably being discharged from the Navy, Trapper worked for the Niagara Paper Mill for 39 years.
Trapper Was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Trapper coached the girl's baseball team, the Braves Little League, and played in Niagara's North Star Old Timers League.
He is survived by his wife, Patti (Worley); daughter, Christina (Rick) Demorrow; sister, Christine Brooks; sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Tim) Bomberg, Denise (Donnie) Van Pembrook, and Bumper (Peter) Harvath; brother-in-law, David (Shelly) Trembley; grandchildren, Ledonna (Dominique) Nelson and Claude (Ashleigh) Shedrick; four great-grandchildren; and his companion Sandy Trunfio.
In accordance with Trapper's wishes, a Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bob's Country Bar in Niagara.
