Obituary

Crystal Falls: George Mindok, age 90, of Crystal Falls, Michigan, died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin, following a brief illness. He was born December 10, 1913, in Crystal Falls, the son of the late George and Maria (Alexa) Mindok. On August 1, 1942, he married Angeline Schiavo. The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary nearly two years ago at a party with many relatives and friends. George and Angie lived in Port Angeles, WA, for four years in their early marriage, but returned to Crystal Falls to be with their families. George worked at a variety of jobs including mill maintenance, logging, mining, carpentry, and masonry. George loved the outdoors and his favorite place on earth was his camp. He was happiest working in the garden, picking berries, making homemade wine and visiting with his family. George and Angie loved to entertain people and their home was open to all. Survivors include his wife, Angeline, daughter Betty (Gordon) Dybdahl of Green Bay, a grand-daughter Melanie (John) Patterson of Madison, great grandson Marc Patterson, of Madison, a sister Kate Morin of Park Ridge, Il, his brother Steve (June) Mindok of Colorado Springs, his brother-in law and sisters-in-law and their spouses; Peter Schiavo of Virginia Beach, Carmen Korpi and Ida Nelson of Crystal Falls, Olga (Johnny) Cocco of Carney, Veronica (Frank) Malecha of Mt. Prospect and Anita Smith of Albuquerque. He is also survived by three special nephews and a niece with whom he maintained an exceptional bond, they are Max Peterson, Mike (Barb) Peterson and sons, Patrick and Erik of Crystal Falls, Paul(Kim) Peterson and family, Bremerton, Washington and Winnie Reeve and family, Kotzebue, Alaska, and many other nieces nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John and George, his grandson Marc Dybdahl, his sister Celia Peterson, and two brothers Joe and John Mindok. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 5, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, May 6th at 11:00a.m. at the Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Fr. Dino Silvestrini will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
