Obituary

George John Michaud, 64, of Iron Mountain, passed away Monday, October 12, 2009, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Iron Mountain. He was born May 3, 1945, in Milwaukee, Wis., son of the late George Joseph and Marion R. (Hosking) Michaud. George married the former Sandra Andrews on September 5, 1981, at First Lutheran Church, Iron Mountain. He worked as a millwright for the Local Union No. 1510, from January 8, 1969 until his retirement in 2005. George was a member of the Sons of the American Legion for 23 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to camp, playing on his bulldozer, spending time with family and friends, and most recently playing with "Kylie Bug" and Bella, his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Sandy Michaud; seven children, Steven DeBakker, Norway, Gigi (Ed) Thoune, Iron Mountain, Guy (Laureen) Michaud, Iron Mountain, Gidget (Randy) Grailer, Iron Mountain, Ginger (Domenic) Davis, Crystal Falls, Laurie Rivas, Sun Prairie, Wis., Ericka (Paul Roberts) Michaud, Iron Mountain; 21 grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, Alicia, Randy, Marvin, Nicholas, Eddie, Leon, Nicole, Amber, Sarah, Felicia, Joseph, Brittany, Ryan, Max, Yesenia, Alaysia, Noah, Shania, Kylie; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Kelly, A.J., Justin, Harmony, Bella, Jaden, Ayla, Bradlee, Brody, Dexter; one brother, Donald "Bubs" (Cyndi) Michaud, Kingsford; two sisters, Mary Ann (Ron) Milbrath, Norway, Debbie (Bill) Amundson, Niagara; mother-in-law, Loretta Andrews, Iron Mountain; three aunts, Jackie (Don) Luedtke, Union Grove, Wis., Doris Wagner, Lower Michigan, Alice Joyce Berg, Chicago, Ill.; one uncle, Bill (Eleanor) Michaud, Kingsford; very special cousins, John and Jim Michaud, both of Ishpeming; special buddy, Damian "Buck Shot" Maki, Spread Eagle, Wis.; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jake Michaud, Chilito Rivas; one great-grandson, Anthony Seymour; and his father-in-law, George Andrews.
