Gary C. Soderbloom, 61, of Iron River, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011, at Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls. He was born July 6, 1950, in Stambaugh, son of the late Carl O. and Florence (Flaschberger) Soderbloom. Gary grew up in Iron River and graduated from West Iron County High School. Gary attended and graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Master degree, majoring in Political Science, Sociology, Geography, and Liberal Arts. He worked for Iron County as an Equalization Director (Assessor) and also owned and operated R Place Bar & Grill in Iron River. He is survived by two brothers, Don Soderbloom, John Soderbloom, both of Iron River; two sisters, Sharon (Robert) Gagnea, Iron River, Donna (John) Townsend, Bristol, Ind.; niece, Brandie (Mike) Hurd; two grandnephews, Gregory, Jimmie Joe; and one grandniece, Aubrey. Burial will be in Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, in the spring.
