Frederick Anton Eichinger, 86, of Pembine, Wis., passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 5, 1924, in Brussels, Door County, Wis., son of the late Grace Althea Eames and Charles George Washington Peck Eichinger. Frederick married the former Marian Louise Vankirk on January 17, 1951, at the White Rapids Baptist Church.
Frederick grew up in Door County and attended Sturgeon Bay High School where he graduated in 1942. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1943 through 1945. Frederick took part in the Allied invasion of Normandy at Utah Beach and also took part in the Battle of the Bulge. Frederick was awarded the Bronze Star for valor.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Marian Eichinger; one brother, Roy Eichinger, of Seymour, Wis.; one sister, Enid Eichinger Kerndt, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Diane (Thomas) Kingery; five sons, Terry (Betty) Eichinger, Thomas (Sharlotte) Eichinger, Frederick, Jr. (Denise) Eichinger, Stephan (Jacqueline) Eichinger, and Timothy (Toni) Eichinger; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2010, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Pembine. The memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the church. Pastor Bill Phillips will be presiding.
