Obituary

Freda Eva (Cudnohufsky) Christian, 94, of Kingsford, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Freda was led to the Lord by her daughter, Marvel in May of 2010. She finally had peace with God and Freda understood that Jesus came to reconcile her to himself so that she was able to also reconcile her earthly relationships. It´s been a blessing for her family and friends to witness the loving change in her and to see restoration in many of her personal relationships after decades of discord. Pastor Kevin Sullivan has offered to be available at 906-774-8239 to anyone who would like to know more about the miracle of restoration and the assurance of eternal life that Freda experienced. Romans 5:10 says "...we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life." She loved to tell stories of life including tales of her 15 siblings, rationing and delivering baskets of food through the depression, learning to bake for her family at 9 years of age, carrying her lunch in a Karo's syrup pail to the one-room school in Pound, Wis., preserving food, making herbal decoctions, being part of Hermansville IXL history, and sending her young husband to work on the Soo Locks with raisin filled cookies, poppyseed and roly-poly breads. She was limited to an 8th grade education, and her life goal for her children to graduate high school was exceeded by all five. Freda also was proud to earn certificates in community classes for ceramics, computers, nursing and music. She played gospel music by ear on the organ and keyboard and received birthday cards from Billy Graham and George Beverly Shea. Freda´s moments of pride included singing and tap dancing for The Senior Amidon Follies, being a Tupperware and Avon representative, helping her husband Clarence operate a grocery store in their First Street home in Hermansville and later Christian Appliance Center in Norway and Hermansville and a postyard near Hermansville. Remembering Mom are two sons, Clarence G. (Bette) Christian, Leon Ray Christian; three daughters Marlene (Fred) McPherson, Delores (Ken) Liesner and Marvel (William) Christian-Smith; two sisters, Angeline Malone, Viola Tucker; nieces, nephews, in-laws and three generations of grandchildren. Freda was preceded in death by her husband Clarence F. Christian, infant son Alfred, and 13 siblings. Special thanks to Pastor Kevin Sullivan of Family Baptist-KIngsford,Denise at UpCap, Loving Caring Hands, staff at Iron Mountain Senior Center, Probate Court, Human Services, Jim Benbeau, Laurie Walters, Mike Weslin, Larry and Virginia Yarck, ManorCare´s Monday Bible Study, Dr. Beth Schroeder,Gene Cudnohufsky, Roberta's Beauty Salon, Mark and staff at TDS and especially the loving and caring staff at ManorCare in Kingsford.
