Frank N. Schmalz, 83, of Spread Eagle, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Golden Living Center, Florence.
He was born December 15, 1929, in Chicago, Ill., son of the late Peter and Camilla (Jahnke) Schmalz. Frank grew up in Chicago and graduated from High School there.
Frank went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1948 until his honorable discharge in 1950. In 1951, he enlisted in the United States Air Force until being honorably discharged in 1955. Upon being discharged, Frank resided in Chicago until moving to Florence in 1978. While living in Florence, Frank worked for Lake Shore, Inc. for ten years, retiring from there.
He loved woodworking and spending time with his family and friends.
Frank is survived by one son, Mike (Joanne) Schmalz, Orlando, Fla.; two daughers, Christina (Kurt) Kujaua, Baraboo, Wis., Cynthia (Tom) Stark, Schaumburg, Ill.; one step-son, Dan (Rita) Rosen, Spread Eagle; one brother, Bud (Josephine) Schmalz, Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Camilla Strom, Carol Jean, both of San Jose, Calif.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family visitation and services were held.
