Francis (Frank) K. Rae, 74, Crystal Falls, Mastodon Township, died unexpectedly, Sunday, October 14, 2007, at his home. He was born January 21, 1933, in Stambaugh, son of the late Donald and Mary (Zyskowski) Rae. On February 4, 1956, in Alpha, he married Sophie Buczek. She survives. Frank attended schools in Bates and Stambaugh townships, and graduated from Stambaugh High School, class of 1951. He attended Michigan Tech in Houghton. Frank was a member of the National Guard from 1949 to 1956 and the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. He worked in the woods and also at Dawson's Store in Iron River. Frank was a diamond driller for Odger's Drilling Company and retired in 1995 from Lake Shore, Inc, of Kingsford after 25 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had been taking art classes for the past six years. Survivors include his wife Sophie Rae. Crystal Falls, one sister, Donna McHugh, Quinnesec; one brother, William (Gloria) Rae, Iron River; one foster brother-in-law, Raymond (June) Beaver, Toano, Virginia; uncles, one aunt, cousins, nieces and nephews.
