Frances Lida (Scheel) Lerch, 92, of Iron Mountain, Mich., went to be with her Lord Sunday, July 22, 2012, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingsford.
She was born March 23, 1920, in Sherman, Wis., daughter of the late Carl and Effie (Schultz) Scheel. Frances married Fred Lerch June 10, 1939, in Menomonie. They were married for over fifty years. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1990.
Frances and Fred resided on the family farm in Boyceville, Wis., until Fred's passing, at which time Frances moved to Menomonie. In 2010, she moved to Oak Crest Village, Norway, Mich., to be closer to her son, Arlan.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Boyceville since 1939. She was a member of the UMW Church Aid, the Sherman Ladies Aid, and the Davis Valley Homemakers Club.
Frances is survived by one son, Arlan Lerch (Veronica Geissler), Iron Mountain; one daughter, Darla (Curtis Stene) Lerch, Rosemont, Minn; one brother, Dennis (June) Scheel, New Prague, Minn.; two sisters, Ellie (George) Larson, Menomonie, Agnes Harvey, Colfax, Wis.; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, LaVille Clark; one brother, Gerald Scheel, an infant brother; and infant grandson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Jacobs Funeral Home, Iron Mountain. The funeral service will be held 6:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. Rev. Paul Mallory will officiate. Visitation will also be held Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Olson Funeral Home in Menominee, Wisconsin, and Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Boyceville, Wis. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. at the church. Rev. Tim Matthaei will officiate. Burial will be in Sherman Township Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy Lerch, Jeff Stene, Brad Stene, Travis Herman, Aaron Kocourek, Micah Price, and Michael Lyons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremy Kocourek, Collin Herman, Luke Stene, Westin Lyons, and Joel Lyons.
