Frances M. Beitzel, age 97, of Florence, Wis., passed away Thursday, December 21, 2006, at Florence Villa Nursing Home. She was born October 13, 1909, in Commonwealth, Wis., daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Erickson) Peterson. She grew up in Commonwealth and graduated from Florence High School in 1927. After graduating, she left for Milwaukee and worked for the Singer Sewing Machine Company. Her last job before retiring was with the Divine Savior School System as a cook, "Soup's on!" was the familiar cry of Mrs. Murphy-Beitzel. In 1935, she married Henry Murphy and they made their home in Milwaukee. They were married 34 years until the time of his death in 1969. She met and married Lester Beitzel in 1973. At the time of his retirement, they moved to Holiday, Fla. He preceded her in death on October 18, 1983. Fran was a wonderful homemaker and loved to travel, she enjoyed many wonderful trips. Fran was blessed with family that loved her and with many wonderful friends in her life. She lived in Florida for 22 years, returning back home in 1996. Survivors include two sisters, LaVerne Bach, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Lois (Clarence) Johnson, Florence; three step-children, John (Amanda) Beitzel, Wash., Judy (Jack) Bray, Redlands, Calif., Peter (Mary) Beitzel, Wauwatosa, Wis.; many nieces, nephews; several step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren; and special friend Chris James, Crystal Falls. In addition to her parents and husbands, Fran was preceded in death by one brother, Bennett Peterson; one nephew, Jack Nau; and a dear sister-in-law, Catherine Peterson. Visitation will be Thursday, December 28, 2006, 12:00 – 2:00 pm, at First Presbyterian Church, Florence. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm at the church, Pastor Doug Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Commonwealth Cemetery.
