Florian "Fling" Wolak, 83, of Buck Lake (Alpha) passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
He was born August 12, 1928, in Buck Lake. Florian served in the Korean War. He married the love of his life Violet Pifer on February 10, 1968. They lived in the Buck Lake District where they managed their family farm.
Florian worked at both the Republic and Tilden mines, retiring in 1991. He loved spending time outdoors in his pumpkin garden and feeding the bears, deer, birds and all of the other animals. Florian will be sadly missed.
He is survived by four children, Sandy (John) Vary, Lansing, Ill., Carol Zarling, Fifield, Wis., Diane (Mark) Skrzyniarz, Escanaba, Mich., Stosh (Ellie) Skibo, Green Bay, Wis.; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Florian was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joseph, Andrew, and Thomas Wolak; three sisters, Mary Czarnik, Louise Golen, and Veronica Wolak.
The visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate. The East Side Veterans Council will conduct military honors 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, at a later date.
