Florence E. Ponchaud, 83, of Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, November 22, 2013, at the Golden Living Center, Florence, Wis. She was born February 2, 1930, in Crystal Falls, daughter of the late Orvie and Elsie (Kelly) Snodie. Florence married John Ponchaud in 1953; he preceded her in death on November 17, 1996. She later was preceded in death by a very special friend, Volney Vassar on August 29, 2010. Florence was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Crystal Falls. She enjoyed many hobbies which included reading, crocheting, arts and crafts and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by one son, Volney A. "Ponch" (Cheryl) Ponchaud, Crystal Falls; two daughters, Glenrose (Jerry) Fatturi, Crystal Falls and Johnene (Clayton) Anderson, Champion, Mich.; two brothers, James (Violet ) Snodie, Waukegan, Ill. and Orvie (Janette) Snodie, Crystal Falls; two sisters, Janet (Don) Lantz, Felch and Ellen (Richard) Wiebe, Nevada; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one son John L. Ponchaud, Jr.; two sisters, Jacqueline Vondell and Judith Kermeen; one grandson Carl Anderson and one great-grandson, Anthony Hernandez. In accordance with Florence's wishes private family services will be held. Burial will be in Felch Cemetery in the spring.
