Florence J. "Joyce" Martinson, 88, of Florence, Wisc., passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, at her home.

She was born November 11, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late Oscar and Catherine (Lindgren) Ghere. Joyce grew up and attended school in Chicago. She met her husband, Everet, in the 1960s at the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, and they were married shortly after. Everet preceded her in death in the late 1990s. Joyce moved to Florence, Wisc., in 2000.

She enjoyed her bus trips to the casino, the family get-togethers with her extended family, and her peaceful time by herself.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Eleanor Ghere, Florence, Wis.; two nephews, Nick (Shelly) Ghere and James (Kathy) Ghere; one niece, Ellen (Bob) Ghere; one niece-in-law, Robbin Ghere; one brother-in-law, Gene Szymkiewicz; and special friends, Vicki Duncan and Tony Merhalski.

In addition to her parents and husband, Everet, Joyce was preceded in death by one brother, Oscar "Otto" Ghere; one sister, Betty Lue Szymkiewicz; and one nephew, Richard Ghere.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence, Wisc. A graveside service will follow at Commonwealth Cemetery, Florence, Wis.
