Florence:
Evelyn Francis Smith, age 89, of Florence, Wisconsin, passed away Monday, August 29, 2005, at the Florence Villa Nursing Home in Florence, Wisconsin.
She was born December 24, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Fruzen) Kruczynski. She was raised in Chicago and attended Davis School. She met her husband George Smith at her sister's grocery store. They were married on September 18, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1981. They lived in Chicago until moving to Florence in 1973. Evelyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, St. Mary's Alter Society, the VFW Women's Auxiliary, and the Young at Heart. Some of her hobbies were baking and playing bingo.
Survivors include her daughter Marilyn Nolan of Crestwood, Illinois, three grandchildren; Kevin (LeeAnn) Nolan of Villa Park, Illinois, Christopher (Sue) Nolan of Spread Eagle, Wisconsin, and Shawn (Jennifer) Nolan of Naperville, Illinois, five great-grandchildren; Moira, Hannah, Quinn, Connor, and Alex, a sister Florence Lipinski of Crystal Falls, Michigan, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband George, she was preceded in death by a son Dennis in 1964, great-grandson Patrick in 2003, four brothers; Matthew, Roman, Richard, and George, and a sister Gertrude Barnett.
Visitation will be Friday, September 2, 2005, from 5 -7p.m. at the Jacobs Lundholm Funeral Home of Florence, Wisconsin. Prayers will be recited at 6:30p.m. Friday evening and also 9:30a.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:00a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Florence, Wisconsin. Father Michael Betley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Commonwealth, Wisconsin.
