Amasa- Evelyn A. (Smithson) Menapace Kudwa, 88, of Amasa, Mich., passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at her home.
She was born August 27, 1933, in Crystal Falls, Mich., the daughter of the late Albert and Elona (Maki) Smithson. Evelyn grew up in Crystal Falls and was a graduate of Forest Park High School, class of 1951. She married Kenneth Menapace in 1966, and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1981. She later married Joseph Kudwa in 1994, and they resided in Mastodon Township. Joseph preceded her in death on October 22, 2008. Evelyn worked as a supervisor for Crystal Falls Township and later volunteered at the Iron County Medical Care Facility where she would serve communion to the residents. She was an active member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
Survivors include Steven (Judith) Menapace; one daughter, Joanie (Jim) Paul, of Minnesota; one brother, Tom (Sherry) Smithson, Green Bay, Wis; two sisters, Anita (Danny) Stockham of Gladstone, and Pearl Ross of Crystal Falls; and by four grandchildren, Ella, Terry, Richard, and Duane.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Joseph, Evelyn was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Peterson; and a sister, Jeanette Staley.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m., on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crystal Falls, Mich. Prayers will be recited at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
