Evelyn LaGest, 71, of Fence, Wis., passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Dickinson County Healthcare System, Iron Mountain. She was born October 27, 1939, in Oneida, Wis., daughter of the late Chester and Matilda (Johnson) Williams. Evelyn grew up in Oneida, Greshem, and Bowler, Wis. She married Milton LaGest on January 25, 1974, in Green Bay. After being married, they resided in Niagara Township before moving to Fence in 1990. Evelyn worked for the Panis Potato Farm and later Freeman Nursing Home. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with her family, and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Milton; two sons, Robert (Tina) LaGest, Oneida, Henry Skenandore, Bowler, Wis.; two step-sons, Harvey LaGest, Goodman, Wis., Henry LaGest, Beecher, Wis.; one step-daughter, Mitzi (Paul) Nordlund, Aurora, Colo.; one brother, John Williams, Green Bay; eight grandchildren, Jonathan John, Robert LaGest, Jr., Twilight LaGest, Nickolas Nordlund, Zach Nordlund, Jonathan LaGest, Dino LaGest, Miley Skenandore; one great-granddaughter, Emma Marie Rae John; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by many sisters. Visitation will be Friday, September 23, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Jacobs-Lundholm Funeral Home, Florence. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Tim Smith will officiate.
