Crystal Falls- Evelyn Y. Carlson, 87, of Mansfield Township, Mich., passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Iron River Care Center, Iron River, Mich. She was born October 25, 1934, in Rhame, North Dakota, daughter of the late Luellyn and Josephine (Long) Buzzo. Evelyn grew up in Felch, Mich., and was a graduate of Felch High School, class of 1952. On April 10, 1954, she married Kenneth Carlson in Metropolitan, Mich. He preceded her in death on August 30, 2017. Following marriage, they resided in Foster City, where she raised her family. Evelyn enjoyed mowing the lawn, taking care of her flowers, and especially the time spent with her family and friends. Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Schmidt, Iron River, Mich., and Wanda Carlson, Great Falls, Montana; one son, Kevin (Carie) Carlson, West Bend, Wis.; one brother, Laverene "Buzz" (Lil) Buzzo, of Felch, Mich.; four grandchildren, Kristina Plutchak, Owen Carlson, and Derek and Alex Smithson; six great-grandchildren, Tyler and Alexis Bailey, Nicholas, Raynan, Lily, and John Smithson; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian, and one brother, Robert Buzzo. In accordance with Evelyn's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.
