Eva E. Gill, 85, of Crystal Falls, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Northstar Health System, Iron River. She was born December 2, 1926, in Amasa, daughter of the late Emil and Tekla (Vatte) Hanttula. Eva graduated from Amasa High School, Class of 1945. She married Howard Bennett in 1946. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2000. On April 17, 1975, Eva married John Gill. They resided in Crystal Falls. Eva was employed by Crystal Manor as an LPN for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, John Gill, Crystal Falls; one son, Ford (Nina) Bennett, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Karen (Gordon) Collick, Crystal Falls; six grandchildren, Dean (Anne) Bennett, Dana Bennett, Jeff, Paul, and Erik Bennett, Kim (Shawn) Minerick; and several great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Howard, Eva was preceded in death by three brothers, Eino Hanttula, John Hanttula, and Victor Hanttula; two sisters, Aune Altalo and Lillian Bregger. The visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. The memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Rev. Nathan Reed will officiate. Burial will be in the Hematite Township Cemetery, Amasa.
