Eugene E. Steeno, 80, passed away at his home Friday, July 5, 2013, with his loving family by his side.
He was born July 13, 1932, in Niagara, son of the late Eugene and Sophie (Kmit) Steeno. Eugene was a lifelong resident of Niagara and graduated from Niagara High School. He married Marilyn Opolka of Vulcan on October 19, 1957.
After graduation, Eugene served in the United States Navy from 1952-1956 during the Korean War. He was an Aviation Metal Smith and Hydraulics Mechanic on Navy Aircraft carriers, including the Bennigton, Ty Conderoga, Coral Sea and Antietam. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Eugene returned to Niagara where he worked at the Niagara Paper Mill for 45 years retiring in 1994.
He enjoyed visiting neighbors and friends, making firewood for the winter and deer hunting. Eugene was a Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Katie.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn; one son, Richard (Ruth) Steeno, Niagara; one granddaughter, Katelyn Steeno, Niagara; two step- granddaughters, Vicki Faucett, Petoskey, Mich; Elizabeth Faucett, Columbia, S.C.; one sister-in-law, one brother-in-law, and many cousins.
In addition to his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.
Private family graveside services will be held. Burial will be in Niagara Cemetery, Niagara.
