Eugene L. Hall, Sr., 72, of Republic, Mich., passed away Friday, January 14, 2011, at his home. He was born on June 22, 1938, in Saginaw, Mich., son of the late Wilbur and Inez (Dull) Hall. Eugene married Betty Lerch on September 29, 1961, in Addison, Ill. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2009. Eugene worked for Consolidated Freightways in Illinois, retiring after forty years of service. He was a Vietnam Era veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by two daughters, Lisa (James) Barmantje, Langrange, Ky., Cheryl (Thomas) Schrems, Sugar Grove, Ill.; one son, Eugene (Kelley) Hall Jr., Naperville, Ill.; one sister-in-law, Shirley (Walt) Wickliffe, Repbulic; one brother-in-law, Ralph (Violet) Lerch, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Michael Hall, Jamie Hall, James Barmantje Jr., Megan Barmantje, Brian Barmantje, Todd Schrems, Christina Schrems, Colleen Schrems; and one cousin, Brenda (Jim) Wagner, Angola, Ind. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Berkobien. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2011, at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home, Crystal Falls. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. Douglas Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
