Ethel P. Raunio, 92, Crystal Falls, passed away Friday, February 29, 2008, at her home. She was born October 17, 1915, in Amherstburg, Ont., Canada, daughter of the late Lloyd and Margaret (Foote) Bratt. Ethel married Isaac Raunio on September 1, 1951, in Bowling Green, Ohio. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1994. Ethel worked for Michigan Bell as a telephone operator for 30 years, retiring in 1971. In 1971, she moved to Amasa, Mich. and worked for a couple years at the Amasa Co-op as a manager. In 1990, she moved to Crystal Falls. Ethel was a member of Sion Lutheran Church, Amasa, Life Member, V.F.W. Auxiliary Post No. 2891, member Unit 87, American Legion Women's Auxiliary, and the American Telephone Pioneers. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, going to the senior center, and especially spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by one son, Matt Raunio (Holly Novitski), Green Bay, Wis.; one sister, Dorothy Uzelac, Amherstburg, Canada; three grandchildren, Duncan, Dillon, Ethen; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2008, at Sion Lutheran Church, Amasa. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Rev. Gary L. Markworth, Pastor will officiate. Spring burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls, in the spring.
